Josiah is remembered as the shepherd who carried music in his heart. Though his life was simple, he found joy in playing the bagpipes, filling the fields with song as he tended his flock. On the night of Christ’s birth, Josiah’s music became a gift of praise, offered humbly at the manger in place of gold or treasure. This figure captures him seated on a rocky base, instrument at his side, with sculpted folds in his garments and lifelike expression that speaks of devotion and reverence.
